No, not those Kushners.
Murray and Lee Kushner — the uncle and aunt of former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and ex-top adviser Jared Kushner, the hubby of Ivanka — have both maxed out contributions to Christie, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
Jared Kushner has famously feuded with Christie, the former governor and ex-US attorney for the Garden State, for putting his father, Charles, behind bars for 14 months.
Christie went after Charles for tax evasion, fraud allegations and a twisted revenge plot.
This included Charles’ alleged hiring of a prostitute to seduce his sister Esther Schulder’s husband out of fury that his brother-in-law was cooperating in the federal probe against him.
Charles Kushner then allegedly sent the video to his sister as an act of vengeance and potential witness tampering.
He later apologized.
He pleaded guilty to 18 counts in the fraud and tax evasion investigation in 2004.
Murray is believed to have a frosty relationship with Charles over differences in key business decisions.
He and his wife donated the maximum $6,600 — $3,300 each — to Christie.
They previously donated to Christie’s 2016 presidential campaign as well as that of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Christie’s prosecution of Charles Kushner poisoned his relationship with Jared.
But Christie stands by his handling of the case.
“I just think that it was so obvious he had to be prosecuted,” Christie told PBS of Charles in a 2019 interview. “I mean, it’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was US attorney.”
In his book, “Let Me Finish,” Christie blamed Jared Kushner for preventing him from landing a gig as Trump’s vice president or attorney general.
He also alleged that the younger Kushner helped toss out the presidential transition plan Christie crafted for Trump, a one-time friend, during the 2016 campaign.
Christie also claimed that Trump gave him other job offers, but he turned them down.
Trump later pardoned Charles Kushner.
Christie befriended Trump during his time as the US attorney for New Jersey and was one of the earliest mainstream Republicans to back his 2016 presidential bid.
Now, Christie is running a Trump attack-dog campaign, strenuously warning against the former president’s return to the White House.
In March, he vowed that he won’t support Trump in 2024 if the former president wins the nomination.
