Where We Left Off
The end of Season 5 was both touching and gratifying. Will unburdens his fears of needing to be perfect to an understanding, older woman who takes him to bed on his birthday—so much for celibacy! The Keatings are in a good place: Geordie has accepted his wife Cathy’s desire to work outside the home and their married life seems back on track. And while Will tries to patch things up with his mom, Leonard defiantly stands up to his visiting father, who seems to despise him. Mrs. Chapman comforts Leonard, reminding him who his real family is—and goes so far as to invite Daniel to Will’s party.
What to Expect in Season 6
The series picks up in the summer of 1958, with the extended vicarage family on a most-welcome vacation together. The only member of their party without a significant other, Will finds himself drawn into a holiday romance, while Leonard strikes up a friendship with the camp’s photographer. This holiday idyll is shattered by a tragic death and Geordie and Will wind up helping with the investigation. As events unfold at the summer resort, they introduce significant shock waves for the rest of the season, most especially for gentle-hearted Leonard.
Leonard’s dilemma puts Will in an impossible position where telling the truth will doom his friend. It also rocks Geordie’s faith in the law, challenges Mrs. C’s love for her boy, and mobilizes Cathy’s burgeoning activism. As the question of what true justice really means comes uncomfortably close to home, it will take all of Will’s compassion and skill to support those he loves while navigating the quagmire.
The Cast of Season 6
Tom Brittney and Robson Green continue to develop and deepen Will and Geordie’s bond in Season 6, while Al Weaver gives an emotional performance playing Leonard Finch enmeshed in scandal. Other beloved cast members return, including Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs. Chapman, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, and Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman.
There’s a trio of fascinating, new characters: no-nonsense Miss Scott (Melissa Johns) joins the police station to bring order to the chaos; troublemaking society girl Tamara (Emily Patrick) crashes recklessly into Will’s life; and eager new clergyman Henry (Ahmed Elhaj) tries to find his place in the world. And Season 6 has guest appearances from Rachael Stirling, Andy Nyman, Miles Jupp, Christina Cole, Rebecca Front, Jonathan Aris, Ben Wiggins, Corey Johnson, Tyger Drew-Honey, Paul Bradley, Paul Ryan, Gabrielle Glaister, Michelle Greenidge, Gordon Kennedy and Stuart Bowman, among others.
